Suspicious structure fire in Surrey injures 3 people

SURREY RCMP said on Monday they are investigating a suspicious fire at a residence in the Newton area.

On July 7, at approximately 10:31 a.m., Surrey RCMP and Surrey Fire Services responded to a fire in a basement suite of a residence located in the 7100-block of 144B Street.  Three people, including two children, were taken to the hospital with injuries. The two children are currently in critical condition.

Investigators believe this is a suspicious fire and Surrey RCMP are currently working with Surrey Fire Services to determine the cause.

The investigation is currently in the information gathering stages with no further details available at this time.
