Three arrested after man assaulted and shot fired in Surrey’s Whalley area

THREE people are in custody after a man was assaulted and a shot was fired at another man in the Whalley area of Surrey on Friday (August 28) at about midnight.

Surrey RCMP rushed to the area after receiving a report of a shot being fired and an assault on the street at 113B Avenue and 132nd Street. Officers found a male who said that he had witnessed a person being assaulted by several people who fled when he intervened.

A vehicle arrived at the scene and picked up the injured person. At this point, a person in the vehicle fired a shot in the direction of the person who had intervened in the assault.

The vehicle then fled but was located in the 12900-block of 100th Avenue. Three people were taken into custody. The person who was injured in the assault was transported to an area hospital. No one was injured as a result of the shot being fired.

Police said any relationship between the parties has not yet been determined.
