Three bodies discovered in Langley house after fire; one death ruled a homicide

THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced on Sunday that it is investigating three deaths linked to a house fire on Saturday in Langley.  One death has been ruled a homicide.

On June 13, at around 5:30 p.m., the Langley RCMP were called to the 19600-block of Wakefield Drive where they discovered a house engulfed in flames.  Police found a man’s body at the back of the residence with injuries indicative of homicide.  He has since been identified as a resident of the home.  Emergency responders located two additional bodies inside the house and their identities are not yet confirmed.  IHIT is working with the B.C. Coroners Service to determine their cause of death.

In these early stages of the investigation, IHIT is actively working with its partners from the Langley RCMP to complete investigative steps and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services and fire investigators to find the cause of the fire and collect physical evidence.

“Although the flames have been extinguished, the property where the fire took place remains an active homicide crime scene.  Neighbours in the area should expect frequent activity at the home by our investigators for the next while,” said IHIT Sgt. Frank Jang.
