TransLink seeks feedback on potential bus route improvements

TRANSLINK is inviting the public to provide feedback on nearly 60 proposed bus route changes as part of Phase 2 of the Burrard Peninsula Area Transport Plan.

The ideas, which are currently unfunded, include introducing new bus routes, modifying existing ones and addressing key active transportation gaps in Burnaby, New Westminster, Vancouver, UBC, and the University Endowment Lands.

The public can participate in the online survey from February 10 to March 9 and help refine priorities for future transit and active transportation.

This engagement will help TransLink identify which service improvements to move forward with in the future. If funding is secured for the Access for Everyone Plan, these potential service improvements could take place over the next 15 years. TransLink continues to work with all levels of government to secure funding to meet the transit needs of the region.

Potential improvements include:

  • Better bus connections with the future Broadway Subway stations
  • New routes along Stanley Park Drive, 57th Avenue, and East 1st Avenue in Vancouver
  • New express bus routes to alleviate crowding
  • Extending several north-south routes to better serve the River District and Marine Drive Station

During Phase 1, TransLink gathered feedback from over 4,000 residents, workers, and travelers. This input helped identify key actions for bus service, cycling, walking, and goods movement.

Public engagement from this phase will further shape the final Burrard Peninsula Area Transport Plan, which is set for release in 2026. TransLink says it will continue to collaborate with local, regional, and provincial partners, including First Nations communities, to refine and prioritize these proposals based on public interesting and future funding opportunities.
