BURNABY RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects in a theft and assault with a weapon that occurred at Metrotown Mall on September 17.
On Sunday, September 17, just before 4:30 p.m., Burnaby frontline officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon in progress at Metrotown Mall, where a security guard had been pepper-sprayed while attempting to intervene. When police arrived, the two male suspects had already fled the scene.
The assault occurred after the two suspects stole approximately $10,000 worth of sunglasses from a business in the mall.
The first suspect (theft and assault) was wearing:
– Dark baseball cap (with white LA Dodgers logo)
– White medical mask
– Glasses
– White bomber jacket (with Chicago Bulls crest)
– Black pants
– Dark blue and purple shoes
The second suspect (involved in the theft) was wearing:
– Dark baseball cap (with a red logo)
– Grey jacket
– Dark shirt (with “Chicago” and “23” written on the front)
– Blue jeans
– Black shoes (with white soles)
– Carrying a black back pack
“Everyone has the right to feel safe at work and this includes security guards,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj on Wednesday. “We need your help identifying the individuals responsible for this assault and theft.”
