NEW Westminster Police arrested two suspects on April 4 after a driver reported to 9-1-1 that two unknown men forced him from his vehicle and drove away. At the time, the driver was stopped along the roadside at Winthrop Street and McDonald Street at approximately 8:45 p.m.
New Westminster Police Department officers were assisted by Metro Vancouver Transit Police, BC RCMP, Surrey Police Service, Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, and the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service. The stolen vehicle was recovered and two suspects were arrested that same evening in Surrey.
“This was a team effort to put a stop to these thieves,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver on Friday. “Criminals should know that we’re coordinated, we’re sharing information, and we’re watching the moves they make.”
One of the suspects was found to be breaching several court ordered conditions and had outstanding warrants out for his arrest. The investigation is ongoing and numerous charges are being considered.
