Vehicle carjacked in Surrey involved in collision in Langley

ON Thursday, January 23 at approximately 5:05 p.m., RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) officers responded to a report of a robbery in the 8700-block of 161 Street in Surrey.  A male victim said he was approached by two male suspects who demanded the keys for his vehicle at gunpoint.

The victim was not injured, but his blue 2009 Subaru Impreza was stolen. Police conducted extensive area patrols searching for the vehicle and suspects but drew a blank.

On Friday, January 24 at 5:45 a.m., a two-vehicle collision was reported in Langley at Fraser Highway and the Langley Bypass. Involved in that collision was the stolen Subaru and a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.

Witnesses observed the lone male occupant of the stolen vehicle flee from the area on foot immediately after the crash.  Fortunately, the driver of the Toyota was not seriously injured. Langley RCMP members attended the scene and with the assistance of a K9 unit attempted to locate the suspect.

The investigation into the incident is continuing and RCMP SPOSU General Investigations Unit is assisting Langley RCMP.
