Woman assaulted by group of youths on bus in New Westminster

ON Sunday, September 17 at approximately 6:30 p.m., New Westminster Police attended 6th Street and Liverpool Street after a report of an assault onboard a bus. Police rushed to the scene and met with the victim, who had suffered minor injuries and was in distress.

Police learned that the victim was assaulted by a group of youths while on board the bus. The group fled the scene before first responders arrived. The New Westminster Police Department has taken conduct of this investigation and is working in partnership with the Metro Vancouver Transit Police.

“We’re in the early stages of this investigation,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “We believe there were transit users on board the bus who saw this assault and fled the area before police arrived. We’re asking those people to come forward to tell us about what they saw.”
