A shooting in Surrey’s Port Kells area has sent one person to hospital with serious injuries.

On Monday, January 1, at 10:04 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a shooting in the 18900-block of 92 Avenue. Officers located the victim, a 19-year-old man who is known to police, who was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services.

The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit has conduct of the investigation, and investigators are working to determine all of the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Evidence-gathering is still underway, but initial indications are this was a targeted, isolated incident.
