NEW Westminster Police are investigating a break-and-enter to a townhouse that occurred on Sunday, May 5 at approximately 10 p.m.
Police were called after the resident of the townhouse returned home and heard someone inside their second story bedroom. Initial information indicates that a suspect broke into the townhouse by climbing the exterior of the building.
New Westminster Police officers and the Integrated Police Dog Service arrived on scene and searched every room of the townhouse. It is believed the suspect fled the area before police arrived. Officers collected evidence and began interviewing people in the area. Police are now asking the public to assist in the investigation by providing any CCTV or dash-cam footage from the area of Edinburgh Street and 20th Street between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on May 5.
“We don’t have a description of the suspect, which is why we’re appealing for CCTV and dash cam footage,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “Additionally, we want residents to know if you ever feel like something’s not right in your home, don’t hesitate to leave the home and call 9-1-1. We will be there immediately.”
If anyone has information about this incident or video from the time specified, they are asked to call the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
