2022 Ram 1500 10th Anniversary Limited: A Lot of Truck!

The 2022 Ram 1500 is just one of a multitude of popular Ram pickups available. In Canada, engine choices range from either a hairy Hemi V8, a well- proven V6 or a new 3.0L fuel efficient diesel, and the eTorque option. available on the Hemi as an option and as standard on the V6.

Towing and payload figures vary based on equipment. There are three axle ratios, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (with a two-speed transfer case), The Ram 1500 is still available in three cab configurations (two-door regular cab, four-door extended quad cab and a roomy four-door crew cab) with three pickup box sizes.

The available revolutionary eTorque mild hybrid system replaces the traditional alternator on the engine with a 48-volt battery-powered, belt-driven motor generator that optimizes performance, efficiency, payload, towing capabilities, and drivability.  If you’re planning on doing a lot of towing, the 5.7-liter HEMI with eTorque gives the 2022 Ram 1500 the highest towing capacity at 12,750 lbs.

Exterior wise, the  Ram 1500 is certainly a huge, impressive, nice-looking truck that drew looks everywhere.  love the lockable “Rambox” bed cubbies on the sides that are so handy for storage, tools, cables and what have you. It’s also   drainable and features LED lighting and a 115-volt power outlet. You can even  lock and unlock the RamBox remotely with your key fob.

The Ram 1500’s interior is probably the best in the pickup class. Our 10th Anniversary Edition  loaded Limited model seats featured heated, cooled, quilted leather-trimmed and were plush and supportive. There is a wonderful cabin ambience with quality materials and intuitive controls and ergonomics. The Ram is very popular in Canada and not hard to see why. The  big power seats, limo–like room front and rear make this one of the roomiest and most comfortable trucks on the market.  With myriad storage compartments, wireless phone charging and more than enough cupholders and USB outlets, the 1500 is the ultimate luxury work or family pickup truck.   The Dodge/Chrysler/Fiat Uconnect 4C software, displayed on the 1500’s 12-inch portrait-oriented screen is  big, clear, and  easy to use. The fully loaded Limited trim as tested also  comes standard with amenities like a 12-inch touchscreen display,  real wood interior accents, and power running boards. Buyers can also add the stellar 19-speaker Harman Kardon® Premium Audio System. Other additional features in the Ram 1500 Limited include: A 12-inch vertically oriented touch screen, air suspension, Blind spot monitoring, and Rear cross traffic alert.

Our 10th Anniversary version came with options such as the trailer package, Anniversary Edition package, Rotary Shifter–Jeweled, Suede headliner, Mopar bright pedal kit, Deployable bed step centre–mounted, Ventilated Rear Seats, Multi–Function Tailgate, Limited Level 1 Equipment Group, head-up display, body- colored bumpers and much more.

On top of the infotainment excellence, a number of driver assistance features makes towing and hauling super easy. There is trailer-length adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, lane-keeping assist and a 360-degree camera, which made parking this big truck  super easy.

On the road, we found the Ram’s coil-spring suspension, very effective at delivering a smooth, composed, on- and off-road driving experience. The eight-speed transmission is excellent with smooth up and down shifts. On the highway, there is an abundance of power for overtaking, fast acceleration and of course; heavy duty hauling and trailer towing. The Ram eTorque acts as an alternator (electric generator) replacement but also serves additional functions. The 48-volt system keeps the vehicle’s battery charged, helps to quickly shut off and then restart the vehicle motor during the use of an Automatic Start/Stop system, and acts as a mild hybrid system for the powertrain. When lifting off the throttle at speed, eTorque’s motor/generator produces electrical energy that feeds back to its battery pack while also smoothing transmission downshifts. It provides a brief torque boost of 90 lb-ft in V-6 RAMs and 130 lb-ft in V-8 models. Along with adding torque during shifts, it contributes torque while transitioning in and out of four-cylinder mode during V-8-cylinder deactivation. The eTorque system restarts the engine and resumes forward motion within 70 milliseconds after an auto-stop. An interactive deceleration fuel shut-off system also saves fuel. Fuel economy for the 5.7L Hemi V8 vis rated at  L/100Km: city- 13.4/highway – 10.5/combined-12.1.

The 2022 Ram 1500 etorque Hemi  has no real downsides – however it does get very expensive with the fully optioned models. To be expected with a truck that is refined, updated, and improved with every generation. If you need a super  luxurious, classy, dressy truck with excellent tow and payload capability supported by a myriad of new technology aids, look no further!
