COQUITLAM RCMP are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam video following a shooting on Friday, January 5.
A day earlier, on Thursday, January 4, there was a shooting just before 3 p.m. in the area of Johnson Street and Glen Drive in Coquitlam.
On Friday, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Coquitlam RCMP frontline officers responded to a shooting in the area of David Avenue and Mitchell Street in Coquitlam. Officers located evidence of a shooting, and a victim who did not sustain any physical injuries.
“We want to assure the public that maintaining community safety is our top priority,” said Staff-Sgt. Ed Yoshiyama, Team Commander for the Coquitlam RCMP Investigative Services Section (ISS). “As this investigation is in the evidence gathering stage, our officers are exploring all avenues which also includes a possibility that this shooting is connected to the shooting that occurred on Thursday, January 4, 2024 near Johnson Street and Glen Drive in Coquitlam.”
Coquitlam RCMP are asking for information from anyone who may have witnessed the shooting that occurred this evening on Friday in the area of David Avenue and Mitchell Street between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. to contact police. Investigators are also asking anyone who may have dash-cam, cellphone or home surveillance video to contact Coquitlam RCMP.
The file has been assumed by the Coquitlam General Investigation Section (GIS).
