Burnaby shooting (with videos) (update)

FRIDAY MORNING UPDATE:

On May 13, shortly after 8:35 p.m., the Burnaby RCMP were called to Market Crossing after a report of gunshots. A man was located suffering from gunshot wounds.

Despite all attempts to revive the individual he succumbed to his injuries. Two others were confirmed to have suffered from gunshot wounds and are recovering in hospital.

Based on the investigative theory in this initial phase, this does not appear to be a random act.

The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Burnaby RCMP.

Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, no further information will be provided at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation can call the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
Should you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crimes Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

BURNABY RCMP tweeted just after 9 p.m. that their frontline officers and Gang Team are responding to a shooting at Market Crossing near Byrne Road and Marine Way in Burnaby.

“Please avoid the area. Investigators are on scene. More info to come,” they added.

In videos sent to this website, one person is heard to say that he thought the gunfire was fireworks.

Another is heard to say that there was a white SUV involved.

It seems that while one person is dead, another was also shot. Some reports say two are injured.

Sources claim that the dead person is South Asian whose first name is Jas. We are not revealing his last name as this is not confirmed.

A burnt out vehicle was reported to have been found in south Surrey.
