COQUITLAM RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two separate drivers involved in a hit-and-run on Saturday night that sent one adult female pedestrian to the hospital with serious injuries.
On Saturday, January 27 at 9:45 p.m., Coquitlam RCMP officers on patrol observed a vehicle with its hazards on, stopped at Pinetree Way and Guildford Way in Coquitlam. Responding officers located a lone female pedestrian suffering from serious injuries along with a good Samaritan providing aid to the victim.
The pedestrian was legally walking through the marked crosswalk intersection at Pinetree Way and Guilford Way in Coquitlam.
The first suspect vehicle was travelling southbound on Pinetree Way when it made an eastbound turn onto Guildford Way, striking the pedestrian.
Within a short time, a second vehicle, described as a red or burgundy SUV, travelling eastbound struck the victim who was unconscious on the ground. Neither vehicle remained at the scene.
The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Coquitlam RCMP Victim Services has been engaged.
The first suspect vehicle can be described as a white 4-door SUV. The vehicle may have damages to the front end and/or to the driver’s side.
The second suspect vehicle can be described as a red 4-door SUV. The vehicle may have damages to the front end or undercarriage.
“We are also asking both involved drivers to immediately come forward and contact the Coquitlam RCMP,” said Media Relations Officer, Cpl. Alexa Hodgins. “We would like to thank the good Samaritan who stopped their vehicle in an effort to help the victim.”
Coquitlam RCMP Investigative Support Team (IST) has assumed conduct of the investigation.
Police are asking anyone who may have observed either collision on Saturday, January 27 shortly before 9:45 p.m. to contact Coquitlam RCMP.
Police are also seeking video footage including surveillance, dash cam or cell-phone video around the intersection of Pinetree Way and Guildford Drive between 9:15 p.m. and 10 p.m.
