COQUITLAM RCMP said on Thursday that they are still searching for one of the two suspect vehicles in a serious hit-and-run that has kept one pedestrian in hospital.

While on patrol on Saturday, January 27, at 9:45 p.m., officers located a female pedestrian suffering from serious injuries being tended to by a Good Samaritan. The pedestrian was crossing Guildford Way in the crosswalk under the SkyTrain track, when she was struck by a white 4-door Hyundai that made a left-hand turn from Pinetree Way onto Guildford Way in Coquitlam.

Within a short time, a second vehicle, described as a red or burgundy SUV, travelling eastbound struck the victim who was unconscious on the ground. Neither vehicle remained at the scene.

Since then, police located and spoke with the driver of the red 4-door SUV. The driver is cooperating with the investigation.

Police are still seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect driver of the white 4-door Hyundai which could have front end and/or driver’s side damage.

The 25-year old victim remains in hospital.

“We are asking the driver of the white 4-door Hyundai to do the right thing, come forward and contact our investigators,” said Media Relations Officer, Cpl. Alexa Hodgins. “We also believe that there was another pedestrian waiting at the crosswalk who may have witnessed the collision and are asking that individual to come forward to speak with our officers.”
