Drivers in Metro Vancouver urged to use caution with rain, flurries forecast

MORE wintery conditions could create challenging driving conditions in Metro Vancouver on Tuesday evening and into the Wednesday morning commute.

Environment Canada is forecasting wet snow mixed with rain, with local snowfall as much as four centimetres in higher terrain.

Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure maintenance contractors will be monitoring conditions and will be out in full force to plow, sand and salt roads as necessary.

Drivers are urged to use caution, avoid travel in poor weather conditions, prepare for delays and longer commutes, and ensure their vehicles are properly equipped with winter tires.

Drivers can assist maintenance crews by providing space for them on highways and moving over safely when they see a vehicle with an amber light approaching. This will allow crews to improve road conditions and reduce hazards for drivers.
