Falcon slams Premier Eby for spending $1 billion on consultants as British Columbians suffer

BC United Leader Kevin Falcon on Tuesday said that as record numbers of British Columbians line up at food banks, Premier David Eby has been lining the pockets of high-priced consultants. Since 2018, management consulting firms have received nearly $1 billion from the NDP government.

He said that last year alone, the Premier funneled $220 million into management consulting firms, up 200 percent from 2016. This includes hefty payouts like $62 million to Deloitte Canada and $42 million to PwC — enormous sums in taxpayer dollars that enrich global corporations.

Falcon said that while these consultants cash in on taxpayer dollars, the British Columbians who pay those taxes are experiencing the worst results ever: housing affordability is the worst in North America, grocery prices have skyrocketed by 30 percent, gas taxes are the highest in Canada, and wait times at walk-in clinics are now the longest in Canada.

He added: “David Eby’s decision to funnel billions in taxpayer dollars to NDP insiders and high-paid consultants, while people can’t afford to heat their homes or feed their families, exposes a government completely out of touch with the needs of people in every corner of the province. British Columbians deserve so much better.”
