Fraser Health opening second COVID-19 test collection centre in Surrey

FRASER Health is opening a second test collection centre in North Surrey on November 12. This centre is a component of Fraser Health’s planned expansion to provide timely access to COVID-19 testing for those who are experiencing even mild symptoms.

The new site will be located at 10025 King George Boulevard, near the Central City Shopping Centre in Surrey. It will offer increased access to testing, and will process between 500 and 800 tests per day when operating at full capacity. The site will offer walk-in testing seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 8 pm. Drive-through testing remains available at the Newton test collection centre located at 14577 – 66th Avenue.

Fraser Health, the Surrey-North Delta Division of Family Practice, and the City of Surrey are working in partnership to provide increased access to COVID-19 testing in Surrey by opening new test collection centres.

Fraser Health recommends that any person experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms, even mild ones such as cough, fever and headache, get tested for COVID-19 as quickly as possible. Identifying cases early helps to prevent the virus from spreading further into the communities. If you are unsure whether to get tested, use the COVID-19 assessment tool.  If you are concerned about your symptoms or unsure about seeking medical care, contact your family physician, primary care provider or call the Fraser Health Virtual Care team at 1-800-314-0999 between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. seven days a week.

An online booking tool can be used to secure appointment times when the new site opens. Drop-ins without appointments are available throughout the Fraser Health region.

Since Fraser Health expanded COVID-19 testing in June, its capacity has increased to more than six-fold from an average of 600 to 700 tests a day to more than 4,000 tests per day across its region. Fraser Health will monitor and continue to increase its COVID19 test collection capacity and work with its partners to shorten the wait time to receive test results.
