IIO investigating officer-involved shooting in Vancouver

THE Independent Investigations Office announced on Sunday that it is investigating an officer involved shooting in Vancouver.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, Vancouver police officers were responding to a complaint of a break and enter near the intersection of Manitoba Street and 18th avenue in Vancouver. Police arrived on the scene and attempted to engage with the man who was in possession of a weapon. Less lethal force options were deployed by police. At approximately 4:20 p.m. officers shot the man, and he was taken to hospital where he remains.

IIO investigators were deployed and are conducting investigative tasks: collecting physical evidence, interviewing witnesses, collecting any available footage and designating subject and witness officers.
