Join Surrey’s Storm Drain Challenge this summer to help protect streams

THIS summer, the City of Surrey invites residents to join the Storm Drain Challenge and help protect its waterways. Running from June 15 to August 15, the challenge engages the community in a fun, family friendly initiative to help spread the word that the fish and streams are directly impacted by pollutants that go into storm drains.

To join, residents can visit any participating recreation centre to pick up a kit and paint as many storm drains as they can throughout the summer. After August 15, participants return their kits with their list of marked locations and qualify to win a prize.

The Storm Drain Challenge is part of the City of Surrey’s Salmon Tracks storm drain marking program in partnership with Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
