Langley shooting damages home, vehicles (update)

LANGLEY RCMP are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, June 12.

At approximately 12:41 a.m., police responded to a report of shots being fired in the 21500-block of 46A Avenue in Langley. Frontline officers attended the area promptly and secured the scene. Upon examination, officers located evidence consistent with shots having been fired at a residence in the neighbourhood.

“Fortunately, no individuals were injured as a result of this incident; however, property damage was reported,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of Langley RCMP. “Investigators have since been working to gather evidence, canvass the area for witnesses, and review any available surveillance footage to further the investigation. Investigators are working to determine whether this incident is linked to extortion activities or the ongoing gang conflict in British Columbia, though there is currently no confirmation of any such connection.”

CTV News had reported last week that besides damage to the property, two vehicles had also been damaged. A victim told them that they believe it is a case of mistaken identity because they have never received any extortion threats. However, the victim added that police had told them that there had been extortion threats reported in the neighbourhood.

CCTV shows two men firing several shots at the house with handguns. While one is standing in the middle of the cul-de-sac close to the targeted house, the other is further back. The two are then seen darting away.
