Man shot at his Maple Ridge residence

RIDGE Meadows RCMP said on Tuesday that they are investigating an aggravated assault that resulted in a man being shot at his residence in Maple Ridge.

On Monday, January 15 at approximately 9:10 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to reports of a male shot in a residence in the 22700-block of Ritchie Avenue in Maple Ridge. The residence is well known to police.

Police immediately attended the scene along with the Integrated Police Dog Service (IPDS) and conducted a search of the residence. Inside the residence, one person was observed suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. BC Emergency Health Services provided medical assistance to the male before transporting him to hospital. No other injuries were sustained.

Ridge Meadows RCMP frontline members and IPDS cleared the residence and conducted a search of the surrounding areas.

The scene is currently held by police.

Police said they believe this to be a targeted incident and there is no further threat to public safety at this time.
