Moose Wala murder: Two shooters from Maharashtra identified, police say

New Delhi (IANS /others): The Special Cell of Delhi Police has identified two shooters from Maharashtra that were involved in the brutal killing of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh, popularly known as Sidhu Moose Wala.
The identities of the two accused shooters — Santosh Yadav and Nav Nath Suryawanshi — were revealed during the interrogation of their close aide, Sidhesh Hiraman Kamle a.k.a. Mahakaal, who was arrested from Pune during a joint operation by the Delhi Police and the Maharashtra Police.
Special Commissioner of Police, H.S. Dhaliwal, said both the shooters were paid Rs. 350,000 each to commit the gruesome murder of the Punjabi singer.
“It was Mahakaal who introduced both these shooters to the main perpetrators and got Rs. 50,000 for it,” the senior police official said.
He said the police had issued eight pictures of the suspects and six of the shooters had been identified. Out of them, the role of four in the murder, which took place in Punjab’s Mansa last month, has been established.

Meanwhile, the Tribune newspaper of Chandigarh reported that one of the sharp shooters who allegedly fired at Moose Wala — Harkamal Ranu of Bathinda — has been arrested. His family members claimed they have handed him over to the Punjab Police.

Moosewala, 28, was shot dead on May 29 while he was driving his Mahindra Thar SUV. About a dozen assailants fired numerous shots at him. The singer’s autopsy report revealed that his body bore 19 bullet injury marks.
During the last media briefing on June 8, Dhaliwal had said that since Moose Wala’s murder, four teams of Special Cell had been working on the case and the probe had  revealed that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was the mastermind behind the singer’s killing.

Meanwhile, Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice against Satinderjeet Singh alias Goldy Brar who allegedly claimed responsibility for the killing of Moose Wala. Brar is reported to be living in Canada.

The Punjab Police had sought a Red Corner Notice against Brar on May 30 in connection with two old cases, officials said.

Brar, a native of Sri Muktsar Sahib, had gone to Canada on a student visa in 2017. Punjab Police allege that he is connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The Indian Police’s allegations against Brar have not been proven in court and Brar has not made any statement on these.

Moosewala’s murder was allegedly in retaliation to Akali youth leader Vicky Middukhera’s killing that took place last year.
