New Westminster Police arrest suspect with knife after transit user threatened

ON November 11 at approximately 9:15 p.m., New Westminster Police officers received a 9-1-1 call from a transit user who was near the bus loop near the New Westminster SkyTrain Station. The transit user said that a man had threatened him with a knife.

When officers arrived, they located a man matching the suspect description. When he was arrested, a knife was located in his possession.

“We take reports like this very seriously because everyone should feel safe while moving through our city,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “Thanks to a quick call to 9-1-1 and the fast response of our officers, the suspect was identified and taken into custody.”

The police investigation is ongoing. Charges for assault with a weapon and uttering threats are being considered.
