New Westminster Police ask for public help to find stolen car; dog found (update)

JANUARY 15 UPDATE:

Zoey the Border Collie was found by a kindhearted commuter.

 

IN the early morning hours of Monday, January 15, New Westminster Police Department received a report of a stolen car. According to the victim, his 2012 black Fiat 500 Sport was stolen from the 800-block of Carnarvon Street with his six-year-old Border Collie in the rear seat of the vehicle. The theft occurred at approximately 12:50 a.m.

The license plate of the stolen Fiat 500 Sport is TT2 51D. The stolen Border Collie, named Zoey, is brown and white with freckles, a red nose, and a collar. Police are currently searching the nearby area for CCTV footage.

“Zoey’s owner is extremely upset and understandably he’s concerned for the well-being of his beloved pet,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “We’re asking the public to share this story and to help us reunite this man and his dog. If you see what you believe to be this stolen vehicle or Zoey we ask that you call 9-1-1.”
