NEW Westminster Police Department officers are asking for additional witnesses to come forward following the assault and robbery of a man on February 27 near the intersection of Blackie Street and Carnarvon Street.
The victim was walking towards the New Westminster SkyTrain Station at approximately 9 a.m. when he was punched in the stomach and knocked to the ground by two men he didn’t know. One of the suspects robbed him of his headphones before both suspects fled the area.
“At this time officers are canvassing the area for CCTV footage of the suspects,” said Sgt. Leaver. “This is a high traffic area with the mall and nearby transit centre. We’re hopeful that someone in the area witnessed the robbery and is willing to provide this information to investigators.”
The first suspect is described as a man in his late twenties or early thirties, South Asian in appearance, standing approximately 5’11” tall, with a thin pencil moustache and goatee, wearing black coveralls with green reflective tape down the chest.
The second suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40 years of age, with a longer beard, brown hair with grey streaks, a slim build, wearing orange and red coveralls.
If you witnessed this incident, or have CCTV footage, you are requested to reach out to the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
