NORTH Vancouver RCMP have arrested a man for impersonating a police officer and are seeking further victims to come forward.

On March 1, police were informed that a man driving a Ford F-150 had pulled over a Tesla driver. During the interaction, the driver of the F-150 identified himself as a North Vancouver RCMP officer and had flashing red and white lights displayed. The driver was not wearing a police uniform, did not have any police equipment on his person and did not provide a police identification.

On March 4, North Vancouver RCMP arrested the driver of the F-150 for impersonating a police officer and seized the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, investigators determined there could be additional victims who were pulled over by the same man.

Investigators are releasing a photo of the F-150 in hopes that drivers who may have been pulled over by the same vehicle will come forward and provide a statement.

“We are asking anyone who may have been pulled over by this vehicle to take note of key identifying details,” said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for North Vancouver RCMP. “The truck has a light bar placed on the lower centre of the windshield, which resembles lighting used on police vehicles. If you recall seeing these features and had a similar interaction, we encourage you to come forward and speak with investigators.”

Ways to protect yourself if you suspect you been pulled over by a police impersonator:

* Verify identification: Police carry official badges with photo ID cards displaying their regimental number. You can request to see this identification.
* Contact authorities: If uncertain about the legitimacy of the stop, call 911 immediately. Provide your location and express your concerns. The dispatcher can verify if an officer is conducting a traffic stop in your area.
* Trust your instincts: If something feels amiss, inform the individual that you’re contacting the police to verify their identity. Genuine officers will understand and support your action.
