ON September 13 at 7:54 p.m., the New Westminster Fire and Rescue Service responded to a fire at Westminster Pier Park. The timber wharf section at the eastern end of the park sustained significant damage. Firefighters have contained the blaze, but it continues to burn.

At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown and the New Westminster Police Department’s Major Crime Unit has been called in to assist fire investigators in determining a cause.
