One man seriously injured in third Coquitlam shooting in three days

COQUITLAM RCMP are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam video following a shooting which occurred on Saturday, January 6; making it the third shooting in three days.

On Friday, January 5, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Coquitlam RCMP frontline officers responded to a shooting in the area of David Avenue and Mitchell Street in Coquitlam. Officers located evidence of a shooting, and a victim who did not sustain any physical injuries.

On Thursday, January 4, there was a shooting just before 3 p.m. in the area of Johnson Street and Glen Drive in Coquitlam. Police received multiple reports that multiple individuals had shot at a vehicle and were pointing a firearm. Police quickly located two suspects believed to be involved in the shooting. There were no reported injuries at the time.

On Saturday, Coquitlam RCMP frontline officers responded to a shooting in the area of Westwood Street and Glen Drive in Coquitlam, at approximately 4:14 p.m. Officers located one man suffering from life-threatening injuries who was transported to the hospital. Two suspects were seen running away from the shooting scene.

“We understand that these last three days have been incredibly stressful to the community and we want to assure the public that our officers are working tirelessly to advance all of these investigations” said Inspector Darren Carr, Operations Support Officer for Coquitlam RCMP.  “Public safety is our top priority. These incidents are isolated, targeted and involving a small group of individuals.”

Coquitlam RCMP are asking for information from anyone who may have witnessed the shooting in the area of Westwood Street and Glen Drive between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Investigators are also asking anyone who may have dash-cam, cellphone or home surveillance video to contact Coquitlam RCMP.

The file has been assumed by the Coquitlam General Investigation Section (GIS).
