ONTARIO: Stolen auto arrest leads to firearm charges against Charandeep Singh

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police’s 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) has arrested and charged a 25-year-old man with possession of a firearm and stolen property-related offences.

On Sunday, May 4, officers observed a stolen vehicle in the area of Sandalwood Parkway East and Airport Road in the city of Brampton. Investigators observed a male suspect, Charandeep Singh, exit the vehicle and placed him under arrest.

During the course of the investigation, several items were located on the accused, including a .40 calibre Glock handgun, a 9mm Taurus Millennium handgun, ammunition, and extended magazines.

Charandeep Singh of Brampton has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition (two counts)
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there is a firearm (two counts)
  • Careless storage of firearm (two counts)
  • Tampering with serial number of firearm
  • Possession of prohibited device of ammunition know it’s possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device

Singh was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
