PLAY On! Canada is returning to Surrey for their national tour of street hockey festivals in 2024. Play On! Canada is host to the country’s largest street hockey tournaments, offering community members an action-packed weekend filled with fun, competition and community spirit.
“Surrey is proud to support and welcome back this inclusive street hockey event for participants of all ages and skill levels,” said Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke. “Our city thrives on the positive impact such events bring, showcasing our welcoming and vibrant communities.”
Play On! Canada expects their upcoming event to include 200 teams with 4,000 players and attract up to 10,000 spectators to the City of Surrey. Furthermore, Play On! Canada’s extensive national level coverage through TV, social media, and radio, will play a significant role in promoting Surrey as a premier sports tourism destination across the country.

Since its inception in 2003, Play On! Canada has seen over 2.5 million Canadians in 37 communities participate. In 2022 Play On! Canada successfully hosted their street hockey festival in downtown Cloverdale, with an impressive 98 teams registered.
Surrey’s welcoming, world-class, accessible, and award-winning facilities, makes it the premier place for hosting sporting events. The Sport Tourism Strategy has been developed to advance the City of Surrey as a leader in the sport tourism industry, maximizing both economic benefits and sport development opportunities.
