Police seek witnesses after pedestrian injured in Vancouver collision

VANCOUVER Police are investigating a serious collision that sent one person to hospital last week, and are asking anyone with information to call police.

A 68-year-old woman was crossing Cambie Street at West 57 Avenue on December 7 just after 8:30 a.m. when she was struck by the driver of a black GMC Sierra. The woman was taken to hospital where she remains with serious, life-altering injuries.

“This collision occurred during a busy time of day where there would be a lot pedestrian and vehicle traffic,” said Constable Tania Visintin on Wednesday. “We are asking witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to get in touch with investigators as quickly as possible.”

The driver remained at the scene. At this stage of the investigation, speed and impairment do not appear to be factors.

Anyone with information is asked to call VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
