PREMIER John Horgan issued the following statement on Tuesday in honour of the month of Ramadan:
“On behalf of all of British Columbians, I would like to extend my best wishes to Muslim communities here and around the world as we begin the blessed month of Ramadan.
“Ramadan is a time of reflection, prayer and fasting. It takes a great commitment to observe this holy month, while working and raising a family.
“That devotion is reflected in the values of charity and empathy that are emphasized at this deeply spiritual time.
“Ramadan brings people together to lift up those who are suffering, to pursue justice, and to affirm the rights and dignity of every human being.
“I hope that all those who observe Ramadan this year have a month blessed with the gifts of family, community, peace and spiritual renewal.”
