RCMP seek video surveillance, information after Maple Ridge business vandalized

RIDGE Meadows RCMP are investigating an incident that occurred at a local business in Maple Ridge.

On September 7 at approximately 4:32 a.m., Ridge Meadows frontline officers received a report from a local business in the 11900-block of 224 Street that the front window of their business had been smashed at approximately 4:05 a.m.

Police reviewed video surveillance footage and observed one person dressed in all black hit the front window with an object.

Prior to the incident, this business had invested in smash-proof window file for their window, which prevented the suspect from gaining entry.

Ridge Meadows RCMP’s Specialized Response Team (SRT) has taken conduct of the investigation. The SRT has conducted extensive video canvassing in the area, and has confirmed that the persons involved were riding bicycles.

The SRT was able to determine a route travelled by the suspects, which began at 3:59 a.m. in the parking lot of Valley Fair Mall. The suspects turned north from the parking lot at Valley Fair Mall onto 227 Street, and then both headed west on Selkirk, where they were both observed travelling through the Walmart parking lot prior to the offence occurring at approximately 4:05 a.m.

The suspects are described as follows:

Suspect 1: Riding a bicycle, wearing light coloured shorts and a dark shirt.

Suspect 2: Riding a BMX-style bicycle, wearing black pants, a black long-sleeved shirt and a backpack.

Police are still seeking witnesses and video surveillance in the area.

If you are a local business within the route mentioned, police are asking that you review your video surveillance and if it shows the two persons on bicycles riding tandem, contact the Ridge Meadows RCMP directly at 604-463-6251 and refer to File 2024-18152.
