THE Sikh Sangat announced on Friday that their first public meeting will be held next Friday (August 15) at Vancouver’s South Hall at 6 p.m.
Sikh Sangat Seva Society of BC aired their frustration at the inconvenient enrollment times at the Ross Street Gurdwara. The times have been adjusted and the new times for registration are Monday to Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The membership deadline is September 7. Previous memberships are invalid. Everyone must register again in order to vote in the election this year which will be held in November.
“This meeting is for the public so that they can hear what Sikh Sangat has to offer and also to get feedback from the community on how they wish to have things run at the gurdwara and how to deal with other community issues. Komagata Maru apology from the floors of Parliament, drugs, counseling, youth programs, and the general improvement of religious programs at the Gurdwara will be the main focus. We invite everyone to attend so that we can all work together and make things better for our community,” Sikh Sangat said in a press statement.
