THE case in which Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts and her husband Brian Watts are being sued by Shawnene Redekopp in connection with a car crash on April 23, 2010, takes place on June 17 at 10 a.m. in B.C. Supreme Court at Vancouver. The trial is by judge alone.
The Watts’ Cadillac SUV was involved in a collision with a vehicle at the intersection of 24th.
Avenue and 128th Street at about 11 p.m. on April 23, 2010. The Watts suffered soft tissue damage and the mayor also cracked a rib. The driver of the other vehicle sustained serious injuries.
Redekopp’s lawsuit claims that Watts was driving without due care and attention when the crash happened and is suing for damages. In her notice of civil claim, Redekopp claims the injuries from the accident caused pain and suffering, loss of income and loss of potential earning power. Watts denies the allegations in her response to the civil claim.
