SURREY:Two online escorts working out of new Westminster were found murdered in their apartment last August and now Surrey resident Sarbjit Bains (32) has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and one count of second degree murder.
Integrated Homicide Investigation Team IHIT says security cameras played a key role in laying the murder charges. IHIT’s Sgt. Jennifer Pound said they will not be addressing the motive for the murders. Pound went on to say the only link between the victims is they were killed by the same person.
Karen Nabors and Jill Lyons were found dead in their apartment in New West about two weeks apart from each other. They lived in the same building, but in different units.
45-year-old Jill Lyons was found dead on August 12, 2013, just before 10 p.m. at the apartment complex in the 200-block of 11th Street.
On August 25, the body of 48-year-old Karen Nabors was found in another apartment in the same complex.
Their deaths triggered a warning from the RCMP for escorts to be vigilant and to take extra precaution.
Delta resident Amritpal Saran’s body was found burned on Colebrook Road in Surrey on Feb. 24, 2013. Saran was known to police but had no gang affiliations. Bains has also been charged in this case.
Saran’s body was found only two blocks away from where the body of 26-year-old Jaskaran Sandhu was found on Jan. 28.
