SURREY Police Service (SPS) is advising members of the public of a road closure due to a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle in the 10400-block of 132 Street.
Roads in the area around 104 Avenue and 132 Street will be closed for several hours as police investigate.
At approximately 7:33 a.m. on February 12, SPS responded to calls that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the 10400-block of 132 Street. SPS frontline officers, along with Surrey Fire Services and BCEHS, attended the scene. Despite life-saving measures, the pedestrian, a 45-year-old female, sadly succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
SPS’s Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) has attended the scene and have assumed conduct of the investigation. It does not currently appear that impairment is a contributing factor in the collision, however, the cause remains unknown at this very early stage of the investigation, police said.
Police said that the 10400-block of 132 Street, along with roads and intersections in the immediate area, will likely remain closed for several hours as police examine the scene for evidence. Pedestrians and motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes.
Anyone with information about the collision, or who may be in possession of dashcam footage is asked to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 25-14286 (SP).
