Suspect in Coquitlam groping incidents arrested

COQUITLAM RCMP’s Investigational Support Team (IST) on Thursday arrested the suspect who is believed to have sexually assaulted two females in Coquitlam.

Police had previously asked for the public’s assistance on May 9 in identifying the suspect of these sex assaults which were reported the day before.

On May 8, Coquitlam RCMP frontline officers had responded to two separate reports of an unknown male approaching female victims and inappropriately touching them.

The first incident occurred around 1 p.m. at the bus stop located on Coast Meridian Road and David Avenue in Coquitlam.

The second incident occurred at 9:10 p.m. near the intersection of Burke Village Promenade and Soball Street in Coquitlam.

“We would like to thank the public for their assistance in identifying this individual,” said Media Relations Officer Cpl. Alexa Hodgins. “The information provided from the public will continue to aid our officers as they continue the investigation.”

The suspect remains in custody pending their next court appearance.
