Suspect in recent sexual assault series in Coquitlam arrested

ON Sunday, December 8, Coquitlam RCMP arrested a suspect in connection to a recent series of sexual assaults. Police said the timely arrest came after their significant efforts to identify and locate the suspect.

Coquitlam RCMP are now investigating a total of nine reports where the male suspect is alleged to have inappropriately touched women as they walked.

Five of these incidents occurred between Wednesday, December 4 and Thursday, December 5 between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Burquitlam area of Coquitlam.

Two further incidents occurred on Friday, December 6 in Glen Park located at 1158 Pipeline Road in Coquitlam.

In all incidents, the male fled on foot after the assault.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety of our community,” said Sgt. Karrie Ellis. “Public safety is our top priority and we will dedicate any needed resources to protect our residents from harm and bring those responsible before the courts.”

“Thank you to the public and the media for your assistance. The investigation is ongoing and police are unable to release the suspect’s identity at this time. The suspect has been released on conditions,” she added.
