Two male victims of targeted shooting in Newton in stable condition

SURREY RCMP announced on Saturday afternoon that the two male victims who were shot in Newton on Friday night in a targeted shooting are now considered to be in stable condition. One of the men had an outstanding warrant and is now in police custody. While still early in the investigation, this shooting is believed to be linked to the drug trade and the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict, police said.

Surrey RCMP are continuing their investigation into the shooting and are appealing to anyone with further information to come forward.

Police said they can confirm that a vehicle found burnt in Delta on Friday evening is believed to be connected to the shooting.

The investigation is being led by the Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit with assistance from a number of specialized teams including the Surrey Gang Enforcement Team and the Integrated Forensic Identification Team. In addition, frontline officers on scene last night were assisted by Police Dog Services and CFSEU-BC UGET (Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team).

Investigators continue to canvas the area for potential witnesses or CCTV footage. Anyone with information about this incident, or who may have dash cam video in the area at the time of the shooting is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
