Two men charged in January 10 shooting in Abbotsford

CHARGES of aggravated assault have been approved against 36-year-old Haman Lamar Benamaisia and 39-year-old Adam Marton in the January 10 shooting incident in Abbotsford. An additional count of assault with a weapon was approved against Marton.

On January 10 at 6:28 a.m., Abbotsford Police responded to a fight at an apartment building in the 33400-block of George Ferguson Way and found a 44-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

On January 21, Abbotsford Police Major Crime detectives, with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT), executed two search warrants, one in Abbotsford and one in Maple Ridge, and arrested Benamaisia and Marton.

“This was a multi-jurisdictional investigation that showed the importance of information sharing amongst police departments in BC to apprehend violent offenders in our community,” said Detective Ian Parks.
