Vancouver Police investigate after man injured in fire

VANCOUVER Police are asking witnesses to come forward after a man was injured in a fire early Sunday morning near Main Street and Terminal Avenue.

The 40-year-old man was discovered by a motorist around 2 a.m. on Sunday outside the Main Street-Science World station. The motorist helped put the fire out before calling 9-1-1. The man sustained burns to his upper body and face, and received medical treatment at hospital before being released.

VPD officers are reviewing security cameras in the area to determine how the fire started, and whether it was the result of a crime.

Witnesses, or anyone with dash-cam video who was passing through Main and Terminal between 1:30 and 2:06 a.m. on Sunday, are asked to call VPD’s Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541.
