A day after being drafted second overall in the 2015 CFL Draft by Winnipeg, offensive lineman Sukh Chungh, 23, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed on a contract, the CFL.ca reported on Wednesday.
The University of Calgary alum was Winnipeg’s top selection in Tuesday’s 2015 CFL Canadian Draft and has the potential to anchor the offensive line for years to come.
Chungh is considered pro-ready after spending the past five seasons with the Dinos, appearing in seven games in 2014.
For the second straight season, he was named both a Canada West All-Star and a CIS All-Canadian. Chungh also played for Team West in the CIS East-West Bowl in 2014.
“This has been an amazing 24-48 hours for me and my family,” said Chungh. “I am so grateful to not only be taken second overall, but now have an agreement in place and look forward to coming to camp. I can’t wait to get there and get going.”
The six-foot-four, 305-pound Port Coquitlam, B.C. native has a penchant for playing tough and physical football and should be a welcome addition for a Bomber team that gave up a franchise-worst 70 sacks in 2014, CFL.ca reported.
