70-year-old woman slashed at Metrotown SkyTrain Station; 3 in custody

THREE suspects have been arrested by Metro Vancouver Transit Police after a woman was slashed at Metrotown SkyTrain Station in Burnaby.

On Friday, September 5, just before noon, a physical altercation broke out inside the SkyTrain station. A 70-year-old woman, who was standing nearby and not involved in the dispute, was slashed in the leg with an edged weapon during the fight. The individuals who were involved in the fight then fled the scene.

Two men and a woman were later arrested and two discarded weapons, believed to be involved, were recovered nearby.

BC Emergency Health Services attended and transported the woman to hospital.

All three suspects are currently in custody.

“We are still in the early stages of the investigation, but we do not believe the victim and the suspects knew each other. This violent incident has had a significant impact on a woman who should be able to safely ride transit,” said Constable Amanda Steed.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident, and has not yet spoken to police, is asked to call 604-515-8300 or text 87.77.77.
