Delta Police apprehend suspect in theft of truck and snowmobile

DELTA Police on Wednesday arrested a suspect in the theft of a truck with a snowmobile, thanks to the alertness of a Ladner resident.

On the evening of March 6 at approximately 5:30 p.m., the resident noticed a truck with a snowmobile matching the description of a stolen vehicle circulated on social media. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day from Merritt. Recognizing the importance of the situation, the person promptly contacted Delta Police.

Upon verification of the stolen status, police officers, in collaboration with Air 1 and the Integrated Police Dog Service, rushed to the area. The suspect, despite attempting to evade arrest by entering a farm field, was taken into custody. He was identified as 32-year-old Tyler Roherty from Kamloops.

Roherty faces charges of possession of stolen property, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and driving while prohibited. Additionally, he was arrested on a Canada-wide warrant as his statutory release had been suspended. He remains in custody.

Delta Police expressed their gratitude to the caller whose prompt identification of the stolen vehicles played a pivotal role in the apprehension of the suspect.
