Female stranger allegedly assaults 88-year-old woman in Richmond

RICHMOND RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in the alleged stranger assault on an elderly woman.

On March 6, Richmond RCMP received a report of an alleged assault that took place on March 5 in the 9200-block of Alderbridge Way.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on March 5, an 88-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a female stranger. The victim was inside of a business when she was reportedly approached and struck in the head. Unfortunately, no one appears to have witnessed it, police said.

“The victim was struck hard enough that she fell onto the floor, but fortunately, she did not sustain any physical injuries,” says Cpl. Adriana O’Malley, Richmond RCMP Media Relations Officer. “We believe there are people who will recognize this suspect and implore anyone who can identify her to call us.”

At this time the motive for this incident is unknown.

The investigation remains ongoing.
