– COVID-19 outbreaks at Queen’s Park Care Centre and Lakeshore Care Centre
FRASER Health on Wednesday declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Queen’s Park Care Centre in New Westminster after evidence of transmission in the rehabilitation unit.
Nine patients have tested positive for COVID-19 as part of this outbreak. The outbreak is limited to one unit, which will continue to accommodate new patients as space and resources allow.
Upon declaring the outbreak, Fraser Health said it immediately implemented precautions at the site, including enhanced cleaning as well as contact tracing to protect the health of all staff, medical staff, and patients.
Fraser Health has notified all patients on the affected unit about the outbreak, and in addition, families of patients who are unable to share this information have been informed.
Long-term care
Fraser Health declared COVID-19 outbreaks over at Chartwell Carlton Gardens in Burnaby, Kinsmen Lodge in Surrey, Amica White Rock in South Surrey, Peace Arch Hospital Foundation Lodge in Surrey, Maple Ridge Seniors Village in Maple Ridge, and Kiwanis Care Centre in New Westminster.
With the implementation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in care facilities, there are no longer any COVID-19 cases at these locations.
Fraser Health declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Lakeshore Care Centre in Coquitlam. Twelve residents and three staff members have tested positive for COVID-19.
Lakeshore Care Centre is a long-term care facility that is owned and operated by The Care Group. The residents and staff members are currently in self-isolation at their homes.
Fraser Health said it has worked with the sites to support the implementation of enhanced control measures. It said it is also working with the sites to identify anyone who may have been exposed, and is taking steps to protect the health of all staff, residents and families.
