THE 12th and last victim in the terror attack on Charlie Hebdo, a satirical magazine in Paris, was Ahmed Merabet.
He was the son of immigrants from mainly Muslim North Africa. He was shot dead at point blank range on the sidewalk by a Kalashnikov-wielding masked terrorist as the killers left the magazine building.
Media are reporting that as details about his death became known, a campaign of solidarity quickly caught fire on social media, using the phrase “Je Suis Ahmed” – I Am Ahmed.
