Mississauga Arts Council announces new executive director, Anu Vittal

ONTARIO ANU VITTAL 

The Mississauga Arts Council on Monday announced Anu Vittal as their new executive director.

“The board and staff of the Mississauga Arts Council are very excited to have Ms. Anu Vittal as their new Executive Director. The hiring of Ms. Vittal marks a new direction for the Mississauga Arts Council ensuring an expansion of its role to artists and the community at large,” said Bohdan Shulakewych, President of the Mississauga Arts Council. “Our city could not be better served.”

Most recently Vittal was the CEO of AVC which provided marketing support and development for overseas companies so they could grow their North American markets. Vittal has previously worked with Arts Marketing, as Director of Marketing, where she promoted the efforts of not-for-profit art organizations across North America. Vittal has over 19 years of corporate experience in the fields of marketing and supply chain management.

Locally, Vittal has previously served as volunteer festival director of the Mosaic Festival, the largest South Asian festival in North America, and as the ex-president of the Mississauga Arts Society, the oldest art society in the region.  Anu’s involvement and commitment to the arts also includes serving on the board of Sampradaya Dance Creations and as Chair for Diversity and Inclusion at the Mississauga Summit 2014. Vittal’s work with various non-profits has earned her a Canadian Immigrant top 25 Immigrant Award. Lastly she is a prolific painter and poet, her work has taken her across the globe.

Vittal will begin work with the Mississauga Arts Council on September 15.
